Son’s trip

This summer my oldest son Robert and five of his friends from Independence high school have undertaken a fantastic trip across Europe. At first they had planned to back pack across Europe staying in youth hostels, and this quickly went to riding bikes across the continent and staying in cheap hotels. After some thinking and research now they have decided to rent a car and drive on this trip and stay in nicer hotels at night, I had a feeling this would be the conclusion all along.

They have asked me to help with the rental car part of their journey and I am very happy to help. I did some research on the Internet and I have found the best rental car company in Europe. Argus Car Hire searches over 450 sites to find the very best rates all over Europe. The prices are all inclusive and covers the insurance too. The service for this company is wonderful and they will assist the kids with any problems they have while on their trip.

With the trip starting in Portugal, I found a car hire Portugal, the rates were great and the scenery will be even better. The trip will last seven weeks and the memories will last even longer for the kids, I almost wish I was going with them, but dragging dad to all the fun spots in Europe would not be a lot of fun and fun is the focus of this great trip.

Plans for the 4th

We have made plans to have family come over and get the grill going with some burgers and hot dogs, then to let the kids play at the lake before we all get together to head to Percy Priest to watch the fireworks over the lake. After the fireworks we are going to head to our house for some ice cream and cake to finish off the best holiday of the year, well second to Christmas I guess at least for the kids Christmas is first.

July is going to be a very busy month for us, the 4th of July festivities, vacation and less stress at work. Makes for a good time for all. We have given up one of our districts at work now we only have two a third less stress for us. More time to spend with the dogs and grandkids.We both need to get back to see family it has been a rough couple of years working our butts off and no free time but we are going to change that starting today.

Gas thefts

As the price of gas is rising more and more people are resorting to stealing gasoline to simply get back and forth to work and take their kids to school.

To prevent this at our warehouse we have installed a couple of security camera systems to keep the gas in our vans without having any thefts from our vans is a very high priority.

We bought our systems from IT Planet they offer discount hardware for businesses including bar code label printers, barcode scanners, touchscreens for POS, as well as a huge selection of security cameras and security systems.

New pet

We had a baby kitten show up at the house yesterday, it looked like someone had thrown it out of a car and driven off, anyone caught doing that should be thrown out of a moving car and if they live put in jail. Nothing makes me angrier than for someone to abuse defenseless animals. Animals and kids need our protection not our abuse. So now we have 5 dogs 4 fish and a baby kitten starting to look like a dam zoo around here.

Trip of a lifetime

My best friend Buck and I are going to South Africa on a hunting safari this fall, I can not wait it will be the hunting trip of a lifetime, we have talked about this trip for years and finally we are going.

We have always wanted to go on a South Africa hunting safari, it has been on my bucket list for about twenty years. We are using T. Jeffrey Safari Company, LLC to run this safari. They are one of the finest hunts in all of Africa, They have hunts for leopard, cape buffalo, lion, elephant and rhinoceros.

Hunt for trophy game in South Africa, Namibia, Tanzania, Khomas and the Kalahari. We are going to South Africa but some of the other sites would be high on my list for a return hunt. I can not wait for fall to get here so we can get on our way for this trip of a lifetime.

Oil changes

As one of those people who though that you had to change your oil every 3000 miles I was excited to see the story yesterday that said, with the advances in oil and the better engines they have developed in recent years that it is not required to change your oil every 3000 miles. Many of the new oils will last until 5000 miles or even longer if you use synthetic oils they will last up to 10,000 miles. That is amazing to me and I need to do some checking to see what kind of oil I need to use to get 10,000 miles between oil changes.

New boots

All the time I have lived in Nashville I have not owned a new pair of cowboy boots, until today that is, I just bought me a new pair of Lucchese boots from Cavender’s Boot City the selection there was outstanding and their price was very competive with the local stores, and I think I got a great deal from Cavender’s Boot City.

Rain and more rain

Today the skies opened up and drenched us as we tried to collect, and on top of the torrential downpour the windshield wipers on the Tahoe quit in mid stroke, right in the middle of the windshield. So not only could we not clear the rain from the windshield but the wipers themselves were in the way, needless to say today was not a red letter day in our books. Just look on the bright side……wait on a day like today there is no bright side.
